need help!

Hi everyone. My friend and I want to crochet some beanies before winter is over and we know a mutual friend who can teach us, but I'm really anxious to get started. I imagine it'd be difficult to teach over forums, but can anyone maybe e-mail me or send me some basic instructions for novices? I poked around the web for instructions but there are a bunch of abbreviations that I don't understand yet.

I'm not really sure how much you know so I'll give you some basic sites.

This site is good because it gives both abbreviations and how to make the stitches.

2. Check out http://www.crochetpatterncentral.com they have tons of links to different patterns (free patterns might I add), including hats and all kinds of beanies to choose from.

crochet.about.com is also a wonderful site. It too has stitch guides, instructions, and easy projects. You can do this!

The abbreviations for this pattern are as follows:

 

HDC-Half Double Crochet

Sl St- Slip Stitch

Ch- Chain

Rnds- Rounds

 

I don't know if this is one of the problems you had.

The Annie's Attic website also has an excellent crochet stitch guide directory with pictures, text, and videos for some stitches. Their list of stitches for which they provide information is quite extensive.
