100% Wool & Acrylic?

Can these two be used together in the same pattern?

 

I have 2 skeins of black wool, and would like to add some color, but I only have acrylic.

Think it would still felt ok?

Has anyone combined the two before?

The 100% acrylic yarn will not felt at all. I don't think you should combine the two because one will felt and pull in and tighten up and the other yarn won't.

Karin is right....acrylic yarn won't felt at all. You have to use 100% wool for felting, and you have to make sure that it doesn't say "Superwash" on the label, that won't felt, either.

You could use the acrylic for color and texture, but only if you crochet it along with a strand of 100% wool. You'd probably want to test this in a swatch, but it would probably be much like using a novelty yarn held with a strand of 100% wool. Though the wool yarn will not felt, the acrylic won't - it would probably make an interesting, loopy and ripply type of texture. Using both strands together, acrylic and wool, it probably won't shrink as much as 100% wool either.
