Button Scarf

I made this scarf for my Grandmother as a Christmas present. It has almost 700 buttons! I love it because the fur is so silky soft, it gives the scarf a very luxurious feel.

Thanks! I started from a pattern in a purchased book (Simply Scrumptious Scarves & Sashes from Paradise Publications), but it quickly evolved. The original called for regular, white shirt buttons stitched with size 10 thread. I strung miscellaneous buttons in brown shades on the thread, but because some of my buttons were so large, they didn't lay as close together as the original pattern intended. I added the fur to fill in the gaps.

Yes - you string them right side first onto the thread. I'm going to try stringing them directly onto the fur next time. Because they were only strung onto the thread, I had to keep de-tangling as I went.

oh so not fun! I saw someone do the same as they were spinning their yarn, its very intriguing but tedious
