Need some yarn suggestions

Recommended Posts

long story short-

a friend of mine has been Dx with cancer

and he wants me to make him a blanket that he can curl up with

after his treatments..

my problem is figuring what kind of yarn to use.

he cant have anythign scratchy against his skin

so i went around trying to find some yarn that will make a very plush, soft blanket in single stitch

i looked at all the baby yarns but they are too lite in color and most that i seen are very thin..alot of the other yarns are too expensive for me.

i have scraps of a yarn that would be perfect in blue b/c its soft like

the newer beanie babies (sorry only way i could think of describing it lol)

but i dont even remember where i got it..or the brand! grrr

maybe someone can help me come up with a type of yarn to use??

thanks :)

and im sorry if im asking for too much! :embar

:)Sorry I can't help you identify the yarn you are showing......

Make your friend an afghan with Caron Simply Soft. Very nice and cozy.

Blessings to your friend.

Hi,

I think it is wonderful that you want to make your friend an afghan to recover in. It's a real sign of caring.

I just finished an afghan in Red heart soft yarn. I used an off white or cream color with a maroon trim around it. Double strand so it is nice and warm.

I really don't know what colors this yarn comes in. I believe I bought it at herrschners. It is a very soft yarn with a little sheen to it.

Good luck in finding the perfect yarn. I would make sure it was a durable, washable yarn for his afghan.

LB homespun if you have money (it's $5 per skein)

Bernat softee chunky is also nice and much more affordable. Plus it's a chunky yarn so you work up your project pretty fast. I received one lapghan from my swap partner Brandybuck made from Softee chunky and it's really warm and soft. I highly recommend it.
