Bedspread Bonanza

Hello Fellow Villagers

Does your bedroom need a facelift ? Tired of the same old colors , same old bedspread ?

Or maybe you have someone special getting married this coming year . How about a beautiful handmade bedspread as a wedding gift ? What could be a nicer item to receive ?:manyheart

I have listed links below for bedspread patterns , and also links for 12 inch squares that you could also use to make a bedspread. Maybe you'd want to make a sampler-type one, with all different squares, or maybe there is one particular square you like that would make a lovely bedspread .

Most of the bedspreads I have found online are made with thread, but why not change it a little and use yarn and a larger hook ? It'd take a lot less work to make one that way .

Anyhow, links are below . Jump on in, the water's fine .:hook

Julie!!!

Not nice!! There are soooo many pretty patterns linked. How can you choose just one??? I see a few I like. Although, I will not be doing any in thread. I am not that fond of thread. I will do a little, but not too much. How about you?? Which one are you going to work on??? I really like the Floral Overlay. It would be beautiful on my bed. And I am sure it would keep me busy. And I really need that especially now. My hubby leaves Sunday. And we are not sure when he will be home again. So I will be sad, and need to keep myself busy. I think if I go with the Floral Overlay, I will make the flowers yellow. That would make it bright and cheery.

Thanks Renee !

Come on... you wanna do this don't you ? You could be the first official SIGN-EE !!!

What an honor that would be. RIGHT ?:D

I was thinking of making a bedspread at some point, but I have so many other projects I've been planning to make, and haven't started on any of them!

Maybe my PS could become my new bedspread...

After Christmas (and dh returns to work from vacation), I'll probably join in...There's a pattern I want to try on Celt's site that is called "Heavenly Daydream" which I think would be quite pretty in worsted-weight yarn...I'm not sure what color yet--perhaps a cream or white from the 1-lb skeins...I might just start it soon to see how big the motifs are so I can plan the purchasing of the yarn...:think

OH BOY !

I'm getting some hits already on this . :D

Wonderful news ~~~

Melissa

I'm with you, I don't do thread, so whatever one I do will be in WW yarn. The floral overlay is beautiful. That'd be such a showpiece and something really special to show your husband when he gets back home. It'd be beautiful in yellow flowers. What other color would you use for the background color and the leaf color ?

Not to be nosey, but is your husband in the military ?

Yep, I added some more links.. I like the chocolate dreams too, and also the popcorn bedspread, so one of those will be my choice. I'm leaning towards the chocolate one, but done in aran probably ,unless I run across another color that strikes my fancy . I thought Aran would match anything that way .

I looked up your pattern- that would also be stunning ! I really like the way the design swirls like that . It'll be beautiful done in yarn and a LOT less work . I certainly admire anyone who could make an entire bedspread out of thread .

Welcome to the gang ! You got in on the ground floor of this ! :)

I'm not sure yet. I know I want to use yellow for the flower and Aran for the background. Just need to decide on a nice green color.

No, he is a truck driver. They are sending him to NJ on Sunday to pick up his new truck. Then we don't know where he is going. This is a new job for him. Other than him going away for training, we have never really been apart. So I am just sad, something we have to get used too. What makes it even harder is that the kids leave on Friday to go to Michigan for the holidays. They won't be home untill after New Years. So it is going to be VERY quiet in my house. Just me and my kitties. I know most people enjoy all the quiet, but........... I will miss everyone. So I guess I will be able to get a lot of crocheting done.

Well, Melissa

I wish him luck with his new job, and you luck adjusting to his being gone. I have a cousin married to a truck driver and he is gone a lot too . She tries to keep really busy with their daughter's school functions and volunteering for a lot of things .

This project may just be the ticket to keep you busy . It's always nice to settle on a new project ,because it is so exciting to pick out the pattern, the yarn and get started to see how it will look .

This should give you a big goal to work towards and maybe keep your mind busy . I hope so :manyheart

I haven't joined a CAL in awhile and so I'll join. I think I will crochet a bedspread for the queen sized bed in my five year old daughter's room. Of course, It will HAVE to be pink! I really liked the first link you posted JulieKay the Rose Bower bedspread. Like most of you, I'll be doing it out of good old worsted weight yarn. If I did it out of thread I would have to give it to her as a college graduation gift!:eek Can't wait to get started. I was just at Joann's today, oh darn, I'll just have to go back to buy some yarn.:devil

Definitely still browsing for a pattern. Colors will be some sort of sage with mauves and creams I believe. I will probably be using TLC Cotton Plus, I really like that yarn, like the way it feels. We shall see...

Julie, I looked at those sites and I'm so confused I may revert back to one of Crochet Dude's patterns! Squares are so easy to transport - as long as you have enough yarn in the same dyelot to finish the entire project. I have so many ideas spinning in my little brain now...:help
