plus size crochet sweaters

Julie

Question

I'm looking for plus-sized sweaters on the internet. I've found two books in stores and will probably buy them, but I'm hoping for some other patterns to help.

I've discovered, to my dismay, that the Lion Brand site putting "+ size" on most of their patterns means multiple sizes available, not 'plus size'. I'm thinking of whapping the person who put that up there with a double-ended crochet hook 50 times, but other than that they are great patterns that maybe I can figure out how to adapt in the future.

Any help would be appreciated!

Rebecca, I have a sewing machine that I have never touched. My mother has sewn all of my life, and instilled me with a healthy respect and fear of the machine. Someday I will try, but until then, no, I don't sew.

I'm definitely planning on trying the Late Night sweater, it's part of the reason I'm thinking about this now. The one Teri made looks so good! I found this pattern book on eBay today and bought it (I love BuyItNow!), and with the other book, whenever I get that, I hope to figure this out. That being said, I'll drop you an email this evening, 2junebugs4me.

How plus size do you need? I have a couple of patterns, in various books and magazines, that may work for you. Some are men's patterns, but they would be great for weekend wear. Also, the "late night sweater" (or as someone else put it, SSS) would be easy to adapt to a larger size (I think, lol). If you're interested in what I have, you can email me at r0glesby@yahoo.com (that's a zero after the r). HTH

I would love to design my own, but first I have to try to make a sweater. And I'm bad, or maybe not, but I'd like the one I try to make to be one I could wear. Then if I want to adapt a pattern I find that is regular sized, I can at least figure out how much bigger the pieces need to be. I hope.
