Crocheting with cans

Many years ago I remember seeing hats and bags made from soda and beer cans that were crocheted together. (The cans were cut apart and holes were stamped into them for the crocheting to go through.)

Does anyone know where I might find instructions for this type of crocheting?

I just have one question...A paper punch??? Through a beer can??? I may be totally missing something here, but that just doesn't seem like it would work...

My Grandmother made those hats by the dozens (back in the 70's). I remember the one she made for my youngest brother. She used orange yarn, and Orange Crush cans. hahaha

A hole punch will work. Once the cans are cut open, they are just thin aluminum.

Hi All! I just got a pattern book from ebay titled "Aluminum can Apparal"

There are all kinds of hats, bags, purses & even a lamp shade!

It's kind of cool! :rollin

I would like to post a pic of the book but not sure if my old scanner will work.
