Baby Head Measurements/Hat sizes

Wasn't sure if this was the right place to put this, but I am trying to find out what size to make a hat. I am totally winging it here, and I'm going nuts! I want to make a hat to match a sweater I just finished. The sweater is about a three months probably. I found this chart; but does anyone know an easier way?

 

Thanks, if anyone has any advice! I couldn't find any hat patterns for a three month old. Newborns, twelve months... But no three month olds!

Also, make the hat maybe an inch or so smaller than actual circumference so it stays on.. but you do not want it too constricting for wee baby head!

Oh.. and for the depth of the hat...for a 3 month baby.. I would say maybe 4.5 - 5 inches (from crown to brim).. hope that helps

Thank you SOO much! I don't have any baby heads around here anymore, the littlest one I have is a four year old; so I have nothing to go by. (Way I used to do it anyway!) I think designing hats must be the hardest, not knowing... and each head is different, too. (My babies heads, for example, were all huge.) Other kids might not be...
