where I can find a list of knit outs and crochet in the US? I never hear of any in the midwest area until it is too late to make plans. Last one I heard of in Chicago was after the fact. St. Louis is really close for me, but I never see or hear of anything there.

I think the LB site has mostly LB sponsored events. There is http://knit-out.com/ for (or supposed to be for) all knitouts. Google it maybe, b/c the knit-out website there looks horribly unupdated.
