Question for ya....

when you do this type of chart/graph, do you carry the unused yarn into the project? I had tried to do a hello kitty face on a purse...but it distorted the shape of the project. ... are you supposed to cut off the color and join the next color in, then weave in the ends as opposed to tucking or crocheting over the yarns not used?
