shell stitch ?

cherinec5

Question

I am a VERY new crocheter. I started making this last blanket last night :

http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/5-daylovie.html

and row 1 was pretty simple.

the question i have is for row 2.

3 dc in lst sc. *1 sc in the center dc of the next shell, make 1 shell of 3 dc in next sc

would that be the 4th stitch from the hook? and how do i know where the center dc of the next shell is? and also, do i work using both loops of the stitch, or just front or back?

You ended your 1st row with 1 sc, that is where you start your 3 dc's

the shell is made up of 3 dc's, the middle one would be the 2nd dc in the shell

work thru both lps of the stitch unless the pattern specifies otherwise.
