crocheted beaded trim on socks?

Podger1

Question

I am trying to figure out how to crochet a trim around little girl socks that has beads dangling from it. I've seen little girls wearing them and seen them at specialty shops, but unless I'm not searching under the right words, I can't find much here about it. I am assuming you have to use a steel hook and cotton thread...I just need to know how to do it. And a picture would be great!

Any help you can give me would be SOOOO appreciated!

Sock tutorial

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The socks I made are up on my blog. Check them out. I am also adding a little tutorial here for those interested in trying this project.

I purchased a package of girls socks from Walmart for $4 (6 pairs). I strung about 50 beads on the thread for each sock I did. I pulled the cuff of the sock up ( so it wasn't folded anymore) and with a needle I brought the thread through the back of the sock and tied a knot.

Row 1: sc between each knitted row. sl st to join.

Row 2: *ch 4. Bring up a bead and sl st. sc in the next sc. Repeat from *. sl st to first sc. Weave in end of thread.

The possibilities are endless.

Then...I guess you could use beads instead of bells on this one...

I hope this helps!!!
