Question

Hi! I've been lurking for a while, so here is my first post:
I bought some yarn from the goodwill; some was already in an ugly project which I promptly dismantled. However, the yarn breaks really easily. Is that because it was wrapped up in the project for an indefinite time, or do you think all of the yarn will be that way, due to age or whatever? It's just regular Red Heart.
Also, I started a scarf with Lion Woolease; it makes my palms sweat. Will that affect the project in any way? The moisture does make the yarn squeak. And is there naturally that hand softening action in the yarn, or do they do something to it? I heard somewhere that there's lanolin in it.
