Updating a classic?

Looks the same to me. Makes me wonder what a lot of this brouhaha over copyrighted patterns is all about. Because most so-called designs seem to be simply derivatives of older ones (many of them on this site look like versions of patterns in my newer books) -- or, as in this case, simply an old design in an updated color scheme.

 

I think I'll try out this motif. It looks a little like tiny hearts and might make a nice girl's afghan for me to make for Project Linus.

It only takes minimal differences to change a copy right.....different yarn, different gauge, different hook, different border and proving copy right is costly and quite frankly I believe impossible but, it is the law. I don't bother with copyright any more because I could never afford to carry through when I found people using my designs, or selling them as their own. Pattern companies simply say " we bought the pattern is good faith " I don't believe there truly is anything new, just variations of the old.
