crochet mags

Sorry for the really vague title... I'm just now discovering the world of crochet publications and I've read some of the discussion on here about some of them but are any of the really worth subscribing to or any that I should definitely avoid? And is there a large difference between the price of subscribing to a magazine vs. buying them individually? I'm generally looking for modern beginner/intermediate crochet patterns using yarn that's available in lots of places and useful crochet tips in magazines. I don't really know what other features are found in crochet mags... I know everyone has their personal preferences, I'm just trying to get a feel for all the crochet magazines out there.

Really it's a matter of personal taste.

Usually there is fairly nice savings if you subscribe, rather it's crochet or not.

Interweave make a crochet one, and I've heard that it will become subscribable (is that a word??). I love Interweave publications - they have a great graphic style, some interesting articles, and a range of useable patterns. I'd keep an eye out for that.

I agree with checking out the new mag Crochet Today. I bought it with my coupon at AC Moore and was pleased to find it uses more affordable and down to earth yarn and patterns.

The best thing to do before buying any crochet magazine is to simply look through each one before purchasing. This way you can see what type of patterns it has, what type of yarns it requires, if it has the type of patterns you are interested in. Then if it is what you really like, you can subscribe.

Since they discontinued two of my favorite crochet magazines, I have passed up on many of them lately. But it is a matter of personal taste and preference.

In any case, hope you find something that really sparks your interest and have fun with it.
