Check Your Gauge?

OK, here is a question for everyone:

 

Do you always check your gauge?

No, not for everything. If I'm making something where size is critical, like clothing; I check. For a dishcloth or scrap afghan My scrapgans tend to be works in progress till I have enough scraps to finish anyway; so it doesn't really matter to me. Now, for a planned afghan, that's another story. I'll check gauge sometimes to see if I'm in the same neighborhood, or at least one that won't need more yarn, lol.

It is so nice that I am not alone in this!! Relieved, LOL! I was feeling like a bad crocheter! I only check for wearables and complicated afghan

 

patterns. I never check for assessories either .

Well, put it this way, I have been crocheting for roughly 5 and a half years and last week I made my very first gauge swatch.

I always check gauge for wearables.

 

Depending on the accessory I am checking gauge more often because I think the stitch pattern will look better if I do.

I only check gauge on wearables, like baby clothing and tops and sweathers 'n' stuff like that. For afghans, scarves, bags and things like that....I do not check my gauge.

I only check gauge on wearables I am giving to someone else to wear. Otherwise, I fake it--really well, too, if I say so myself.

For clothing I always check guages. As for the others, the only time I check guage is if I am creating my own pattern.

I should! When I make the shorts and long pants, they always turn out bigger...I am assuming it is a gauge issue. Just too lazy and don't really know how to do it.

For planned afghans yes, accessories sometimes. I don't make wearables. I'm too obsessed with purses and blankets.
