bigger middle stripe...anyone else do it

whenever my grandmom makes an afghan she makes the middle stripe twice as big because it looks better when folded in half

i dont do that because i dont care for the way it looks when its layed out

 

so does anyone else do this?

I agree it looks funny to me. Like it is missing it balance. I don't how to explain it but it is just not my style.

I sometimes add a big middle color then reverse my colors. I don't have any pics to show what im talking about though.

it looks weird when layed out but it does look better when its folded in half

I think presentation is the key to making an afghan who really cares what it looks like folded in half? Maybe i'm wrong here but thats how i feel anyway.

Maybe she displays hers folded in half and draped over a chair, sofa corner or something? Actually, when I do a 3 panel afghan, my middle panel is about 1.5 the size of the 2 ends . . . . I like the look - like the ends are framing the middle - guess it depends on the afghan. . .

they stay on a blanket rack, and when we want to use one we take it off then put it back... the ones made for the house that is

 

i dont think she does it if she thinks its going to be laying out on a bed... im not sure though
