Really disappointed with Crochet Fantasy

There are so few crochet magazines around. I subscribed to Crochet Fantasy because I enjoy coming home to see that new patterns have arrived in my mailbox! But I totally agree with everything that's been said here.

The yarn companies need to realize that many of us crocheters are no longer interested in fun fur toilet paper covers made out of granny squares. :yuck Just give us some of the same designs knitters get! Some classy and classic sweaters, afghans with new design and color ideas, baby clothes that are practical instead of frou-frou-cute, handbags we'd actually use, wearables we'd really wear...:irk

I'm having trouble understanding why the knitting magazines are so much better and have much more sophisticated patterns. The business is essentially the same. :think

Oh well, thanks to some very forward-thinking yarn companies like Drops Designs and Berroco, we still have some great patterns to choose from on-line...no need to resubscribe to a bad magazine. :no

I only bought 1 issue early last year at Barnes & Nobles. Well, I never bought another one after that. I should have looked through it, but didn't. Learned my lesson. I flipped through a few issues after that, but never bought another issue. I thought it was just me who thought it was a terrible magazine.

I haven't seen the more recent issues at all. I did pick up several older issues late 1988-89 at thrift store a while back.

There are lots of lovely thread patterns in them with symbol patters which I very much love. It makes following a doily pattern much easier.

The few issues I have with clothing are a bit dated but all were well worth the thrift store price!

Samantha, I agree with you. The older Crochet Fantasy issues are much better and many styles can be updated very simply. They're certainly worth buying at flea markets and yard sales!:yes
