Translating knitting patterns to crochet

Recommended Posts

Anyone have any advice on this? I found some patterns that I really like, but they're for knitting. :think I think I can make a reasonable facsimile just by "freehand" crocheting, but I was wondering if anyone had any scientific way to do this.

Thanks!

Google your request. I just typed "convert knit to crochet" on Google, and came up with quite a few sites for free help. There are books out there too, but "free" is always better (if it works!) Good luck!:ccompute

Thanks, I took both of your suggestions -- looked at the C'ville links and did a google search. Everyone seems to do it the same way I do, so I guess I'm on the right track. :lol I just thought there might be a faster or more accurate way of doing it, sometimes it takes me two or three starts to get the right proportions. I found this website last night -- http://www.knitkit.com/ -- which has some wonderful purse patterns, but unfortunately they're all knitted and the designer doesn't have anything in crochet. :eek So I guess I'll just start experimenting. :hook
