I was looking in the newest Ikea catalog and noticed a neat new crocheted product. It is called Komplement and is a white crocheted drawer organzier. According to the website it is made from a monofilament. Check it out here it also comes in a box set.

I haven't seen them in person but they look like a thick acrylic type yarn. I guess that is the technical name for synthetic yarn. I think they would be nice in cotton though. Seems easy enough to make for yourself. Everytime I look at the catalog for something specific I end up getting something totally different!

im thinking monofilament is just a really fine acrylic thread, almost as thin as fishing line but not see through.

I think they would be cheaper to buy than to make yourself :) lol unless you use scraps

I thought monofilament *was* fishing line (or more accurately, fishing line is monofilament.)

I love IKEA too and am so sad not to live near one anymore. Much of my furniture is from there. I'm driving down to Atlanta next month and am hoping to hit the IKEA there.

I received the catalog too and saw the storage containers and they didn't look like plastic - they looked really pretty.

I also noticed a crochet edged pillow or pillow case and a crocheted afghan in there! Hmmm:think

I was having a look at the site. It is actually Multi-filament. I did find some information on it. Have a look at this website.

There was another website that also mentioned that many of the yarns used for knitting machines are multi-filament yarns.

Most seat belts and webbings are made from this as well

I was looking through the catalog yesterday and I was pleasantly surprised to see a yarn project in the works tucked onto one of the chairs in a livingroom setup they took a picture of...pg. 96 & 97...right down in the front...looked at it closer and saw that it's a knitting project, not crochet...but still!! It's a yarn craft!!! Made me happy....
