Allergic to Red Heart Yarn?

Recommended Posts

If I let yarn sit on a shelf for too long it gets dusty, and I assume it also gets dust mites. I am allergic to dust and dust mites, so I get an allergic reaction to it. My thoughts are ethat you are using yarn that has sat too long on a shelf.

I keep my yarn stored in big bins to prevent this. Once I let some quilt batting sit in a closed shelf in my garage. It still got dusty, even with the shelf doors closed and I was miserable handling it. It was for a baby blanket and I had to wash and wash it first.

About a year ago I started getting red rashes on my forearms using acrylic Red Heart yarn. I have tried long sleeves, but with no luck. The rashes come a day or two of using it. I had used this yarn in the past without any problems. I am new to the forum and was wondering if anyone has found any solutions or information out?
