wicca patterns

Question

Ok, so I tossed around the idea of writing this post..because my intention is NOT offend anyone...

But I did a search on the web and cant find anything...and I wanted to make something for my friend....She always gives me nice crosses, and the such.....So I thought why not go the extra mile and do something that SHE will appreciate.

BUT, I cant find any sites that offer crochet patterns of anything that is wicca related...and it doesnt help that I have basically no idea what i am looking for! hahaha

I don't know of any personally but wanted to let you know that I didn't get offended at your asking for a pattern like this. I'm a Christian and as many people as make me nice crosses and things I'm

I don't know that much about wicca, but what about something with Celtic knots? I believe they use Celtic symbols and observe Celtic holidays.

Here's an idea that just came to me so I have not done any searches BUT...

If you could find a 5-point star doily pattern (check Celt's Vintage Crochet or Crochet Pattern Central), you could make your friend a beautiful suncatcher (add some silver-lined seed beads for extra glitter and glam). I'll bet Empress could think of a pattern right off the top of her head! Have fun :bounce !

I don't think you will offend anyone. I think you are a very special person to want to do this for your friend. I hope when you find and make something for her you will share a picture with us

Hmmmmm. You know....... if someone could come up with a cable stitched pentacle, it could be stitched onto tons of stuff. That would be quite dandy. :)

Not off the top of my head but I did some looking.

Five point star, kind of small though:

Motif which might work best:

This might work, especially done in a solid. White, red, black, or purple:

Dishcloth, change the colors to something solid:

Five point star square for an afghan. It's varigated which I wouldn't do, especially for this. Again I'd go with with deep red, black, or dark purple. You could also do it in thread, add a few extra rounds, starch it, attach it to a hoop for a sun catcher.

Choker. Make it as is, or find some different charms to add to it:

This would be cool in the right colors:

I found this holiday ornament. It's cross stitched but you could follow the chart and crochet it instead:

http://www.witchesstitches.com/HollyDay_Star_Ornament.pdf

Here's pentagram pattern. Graph it to use it:

http://www.sacredspiral.com/crafts/patterns/penta.html

More patterns from that site:

http://www.sacredspiral.com/crafts/patterns/index.html

More from a different site:

http://www.sacredspiral.com/crafts/patterns/book/PaganPatterns.pdf

This is a quilt but maybe you could find similar images, graph them and make an aghan sort of like this:

http://www.geocities.com/asetmoonglow/moon_goddess.pdf

Cross stitched but again maybe you can fool around enough and make a similar alter cloth:

Here's that book mentioned earlier:

Magical Needlework

She beat me to it!!! I was just going to say that! or something like it!
You can be my friend, too. The more the merrier. :hug

THANKS for all these posts...keep them coming!!

I found this square....what colors do you think are best for this? As I have NO CLUE!!!

I am going to toy around with it....maybe tomorrow...

thanks again for helping out!

http://crochet.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?zi=1/XJ&sdn=crochet&zu=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.geocities.com%2Fcdjsimon%2Fstar_overlay.html

I like the pics for graphing of the symbols...however, i am not that talented. I basically need something spelled out for me. Plus some of the stuff I am not sure what it is...but the star is a safe bet...cuz she wears that on her necklace. This is a harder mission than I initially thought it would be!

This is a pretty good link for the color symbolism for the Sabbats (the four major holidays).

http://herbalmusings.com/colors-for-sabbats.htm

One idea would be to make an altar cloth in the colors using thread. It doesn't have to be very big, and in fact most altars could use an average size doily as a cloth. So, you could do four doilies, one for each season, and she could change them out as the season's progress.

Empress, how do you do it, really? Someone asks for a pattern, and you immediately come up with a dozen links!

If I asked you for crochet patterns with motifs from 17th century feudal Japan with a special emphasis on the house of Tokugawa, you'd come up with something, wouldn't you? :lol

lol that cracked me up as well.

I am alway gobsmacked at what she finds as well. :eek

Empress is a legend! :yes

someone on here has made one that to me would be celtic. I can't remember the name of it but it was all swirlie and stuff. That just made me think whimsical and when I think Wicca I sometimes think that. Don't know why but go figure. Nikki

Also how about hairpin lace?

What a wonderful thread!! I've been bookmarking every Pagan pattern I have come across myself...most of which y'all have already posted here, so I won't repeat them...

I'm doing one with the background in white and the symbol itself in light mint green. You might want to ask your friend what her preferred colors are, as not all Pagans are into having everything black, purple & red..I know I'm not LOL!!

Brightest Blessings!

Jessie

Honestly, whatever you make for her, she will be very touched by it!!
