:POMG!!! You have to check this out. I just recieved a Spiegel catalog in the mail and my jaw HIT the floor when I saw all the crochet apparel and accessories.

On the front page, in the upper right corner is a "search" box. Type in crochet. Surprise!!! 7 pages of pure I.N.S.P.I.R.A.T.I.O.N. :cheer

I love all the crochet, but my heart sank when I saw the first item on the first page. It's a basketweave bag and I was designing one that looks very similar. Err! Oh well. LOL. "NEX-t idea!"

Keep designing NexStitch, because you can't buy the pattern for the one on Spiegel's. Besides, I would rather make my own! :wink

Hey, I'll take requests! The top of mine was going to be different, because, well, I wasn't thinking the metal rings would go through the body of the work like they do in the Spiegel example.

Fantastic items...but to be honest, whenever I see things like this that are listed as hand-crocheted items, I start to wonder just who is making these items for the company, and what is the company paying them, if the prices are this low?? Also, is it possible to machine crochet, like it is possible to machine knit?? How are they able to produce these things at these prices????

It's interesting you mention this, because that's the same thought I have every time I see crocheted items for sale, especially THREAD crochet items. There's no machine to make'em, so someone is there working their heart out for nothing. Be thankful we don't live in a third world country and suffer their plight. :(

No it is not possible to machine crochet like machine knit...so someone is doing the work, but I wouldn't have a clue as to how much they are being paid...gorgeous things though...it's giving me ideas...

It does really make you wonder. I have looked at socalled homemade crochet items in the stores and most of them in my opion are very sloppily made or have mistakes in them. I'd rather make my, I know its by hand. Sometimes I wonder if the stores think there are no crocheters out there that would question their labels.
