I don't know if an iron on(paper) will work or not. Why not see if you can find

the iron on appliques of your numbers at the fabric or Michael's stores? Is your purse made of yarn or thread. You may have to make your own applique & stitch it on or do it in embroidery.

If it's already made, get the appliques, if not, work the number in as you go like a graph. Just please, don't let my other half see it or I'll have to make one for his bedroom; it's a Tony Stewart shrine.

Could you cross stitch the numbers on it? I don't know if I would use iron ons, because the iron has to get pretty hot to have them stick well.

Fabric glue may help.....they also make a glue for patches to put on. I forgot about those mini irons.
