Firefly

I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but I'm watching the one and only season of Firefly on dvd, and there are a lot of crocheted items in the show. Sometimes it's on the recurring, established female characters and I see townsfolk in the various places they visit wearing crocheted stuff sometimes too. I think it goes well with the western/frontier spin on sci-fi that the show does. Now if I could just get a pattern for the vest River wears in the episode "Jaynestown"....

This is one of my all-time favorite shows!! I learned to knit just so I could make Jayne's 'cunning hat' that his mom sent him in "The Message"!! I know, what a geek :lol I made my hubby one as well!

"Objects In Space" aired up here in Canada with the original show run, but there were three episodes not aired because Fox cancelled the show, "Trash", "Heart of Gold" and the last show made, "The Message". We had to wait until our Space Channel put the series in its entirety on about a year or so later to see them all.

Of course now I have the series and the movie on DVD. :D

Yelutci, you are welcome for the idea :lol I found the pattern online--actually, there's quite a large "Cunning Hat Contingent" of people that covet the hat :laughroll I don't know if it's okay to talk about knit things in this spot, but you can find one of the pattern links here if you are interested. For a beginner such as me it was quite easy. Adam Baldwin was interviewed and said that there's always people coming up to him wearing these hats :lol

As far as crocheted items, I've not located any patterns for them :( as yet, but you never know!

Thanks! I've only ever knit a small rectangle:blush -I'll give Jayne's hat a try but I'll probably just do a crocheted version. ;)-Kimberly
