Clothing Ads in 17 Magazine

Recommended Posts

My dear daughter was looking through her latest issue of 17 magazine and it had the 'summer fashion must-haves' (You KNOW I was excited) and then she pointed out a crochted top cover-up thing DKNY I think, an adorable crocheted bag that I actually think I COULD make from looking at what they showed, don't remember the brand name, and then another cute top by some other wazoo designer - these were all in the $40 to $60 range! I guess crochet is REALLY in when the teen magazines have it in their fashion section.

It sure makes me wonder, though, who makes these??? I know an experienced seamstress can really wip out the garments, but you can only crochet so fast (except for the lady that crocheted herself into the cocoon in 11 hours - she's special) But I wonder are these people employees paid by the hour? Are they paid by the garment? I bought a beautiful crocheted skirt on eBay a while back, it's floor-length, very full, it has a sewn in tag with the manufacturer's name and washing instructions, etc., and was not particularly expensive (maybe $20?) and it is pretty much flawless as far as I can tell. It would probably take me a year to make if I tackled it and I get compliments on it all the time (no, I don't take the credit :devil - but I'm tempted)
