:cheer The length is normally bigger than the width. There could be some exceptions but it is generally so.

:cheer I think I know why you are asking. I noticed you were doing an afghan which was worked lengthwise so they had given the length as the smaller number than the length.

:cheer They were thinking of the CH edge being the width of the row and the finished number of rows being the length, which is what it normally is.

It does not really matter as long as the item you are making comes out the size you want.
