Purse lining question

My niece is wanting me to make her a purse, which is no problem except she wants it lined (she has already picked out the materials...she wants a double lining! )and I have never lined a purse before, haven't made many purses actually anyway, how do you sew your linings in? What kind of thread, ect...

 

Oh, and I don't have a sewing machine:blush so it'd have to be by hand.
