I'd say Blogger, which is pretty popular.... but they've been having some issues lately, and if you check Kari's thread about Blogger Rant... well lol

I just did a search for creating a blog in Google and it tossed out a bunch of stuff at me. I know there are several popular ones, Movable Type, Live Journal... not sure what else or what costs. Maybe someone else knows more =)

I have tried all the free ones and always stuck with blogger.

It's got an ease about it. Yeah I know right now I'm ready to go redneck on 'em but it's partly my fault for not backing up my template.

They have spells where they have trouble as do all free blog service.

I agree. I like Blogger. :heart I have used them for nearly one year and intend to continue doing so. They occasionally have issues, but I think that is the case with every service, free or not. As a matter of fact, if Blogger were to charge, I'd pay for it... that's how much I like it.

Just a note about TypePad... if you do the 30-day free trial, beware that if you decide not to continue with the service (that is, if you do not pay) all the stuff you did for 30 days will be GONE... in the blink of an eye. :<> TypePad does not waste any time in deleting your stuff.

I use diaryland. It's a diary site, but I consider them to be about the same. I like that you can choose whether you want a paid or free diary and you can use all html with your diary whether paid or free. They just changed servers the other day and were down for a couple of days, but it's the first time I've had a problem with them and I've been going through them for over a year.

Like with all blog/diary sites, they have their problems from time to time, but they're pretty good imo.

Let us know what you decide

I just took the plunge and set up a diary on blogger. I joined a shhhh (knit-along...it's only cuz I love Hello Kitty!!!) and I needed a blog to post my progress... but it literally only took a couple of minutes to do it. It was soooo easy. And I downloaded the program blogger recommends called Hello to add photos and it worked like a charm. Now I'm a photo posting fool! I keep thinking of things I can take pictures of to add.

Now I want to join the 63 square crochet along too. (I've actually made two squares already.)

Good Luck!!!

I started out using Hello! but I switched to ImageShack soon after. I needed a place that would give me a url so I could post here *g* I hear Photobucket is very good also. I occasionally still use Hello!, it's a good backup program I think. But I prefer the versatility of ImageShack myself.

Here's a little app. I downloaded for my computer (XP) for resizing images, because my camera makes them huge and I'm to illiterate (computer *g*) to figure out how to shrink 'em. Image Resizer This thing just does it for me, a simple right click and select resize, a box pops up so I can pic which size I want. Click it, done. Easy peasy *g*
