crochetdiva Posted April 8, 2006 I posted these a while ago, but have recently had inquiries about needle felting, so I thought I would repost for anyone who missed it and might be interested. Thanks. feltbug Posted April 9, 2006 thankyou andrea for showing me your bears etc. now all i have to figure out is how to get started on something like this. do you mold the felt into shape or is it cut out and sewn together like in normal bear making? wendy
crochetdiva Posted April 9, 2006 I suppose there are many ways to make them, Wendy, but the way I taught myself is to take some rovings and poke it with a special felting needle. This mats the wool together. If you do it enough it hardens and shapes.Hope this is helpful.

crochetdiva Posted April 9, 2006 Thanks everyone! A felting needle has little barbs on it so that it grips the wool and matts it...it also leaves a mighty big hole in your finger at times...OUCH!! These are adorable! I cant imagine how you made them. What is a felting needle like?

I don't know the history...but there is a place in New Zealand that sells needle felting kits and supplies. It is called bearycheap.com.
