My first piece

Ok, I finally got up the nerve to try felting. I'm chicken when it comes to trying new things but I must say i'm hooked on this. I love how it turned out and it was pretty easy all in all.

Here's my before pic.

One last pic, never in my life would I thought I could poke holes through a finished piece, found a great use for the overly large knitting needles I have. LOL

Here's the pattern I used for the most part to get the shape I wanted. Very easy to follow.

Also wanted to say thanks for this forum, this is my first post in here but i've been reading and getting idea leading up to this bag.

Thanks everyone!!

And yes the addiction has started. I'm going today to a LYS that has the author (terrible can't remember her name right now) of the Bitch and Stitch book Happy Hooker signing her books so i'm really looking forward to that because I can buy more wool while I'm there!!!

A friend in my office has asked me to make her one along with a cell phone holder to match. So yah more felting for me!!

How did you do your handles?:think

Here's the thing. I visited a LYS and she had a awesome looking felted hand bag on display. Her handles were tubular (LOL) looking, I asked how she did that she said they were knitted. Well I don't knit. I didn't want to make a long long in the round type thing, takes to long. So I ch 102, hdc in the 3rd ch from the hook, then continued down the chain in hdc. row 2, ch 2 and turn, then back up with hdc's till the end. row 3 I turned and slip stitched the top of row 2 to the other side of the ch I started....Did all that make sense?? I've never typed out anything I've freehanded. After it felted it still looked a little square so while it was still wet I rolled it like dough and became more tubular.

Hope all that made sense, like I said I've never written anything down.

makes sense to me, I thought you might have used one of those little knitting tools...and I was trying to decide if I wanted to get one just for this project..because sadly enough, I would :lol

I had thought of that too but I'm just not ready to cross over to knitting just yet. I have a tampa group that meets to crochet and chat and there's a girl in our group who has just started knitting. I'm still in the thinking stages. LOL
