Best yarn for this project?

I found this cute afghan that I wanted to try to make, but it doesn't really say what type of yarn would be best for it. Can someone suggest what weight or material would be best for this project?

Just by looking at the colors they used I would say it was make with 4ply worsted yarn. It says a H hook so that also is a good reason to believe they used the 4 ply. The Caron Simply Soft works up nice for baby afghans.

Cute pattern done in the right colors... Enjoy and be sure to share your picture when you finish it.

I would use the hook size used in the pattern to work out the weight/ply of the yarn.

I use simply soft and a j hook. They come out so cute and soft. Really are a treasure for babies and toddlers!

I would use worsted weight with an H hook, too. Simply Soft, or Bernat Soft are great!

I really like using Simply Soft for baby blankets and I bet it would work good for that pattern.

Oh, gosh, how cute is that!?

 

I also use TLC Essentials. Stays soft but some colors have fuzzed slightly in the dryer. Same hook size as others are suggesting.

I am going to make one and use 5ply wool in soft pastels for a baby with a 4mm hook.
