My DH made me a crochet hook, he loves me! added: a ty from mike :)

I had an urge to try to make a crochet hook, but I had no idea where to start so I asked the experts here at c-ville. I was told that it would take alot of time and money and was momentarily bumed about it because I dont have alot of either to spare, lol. However, not to be one who is easily discouraged I went to wally world and got some wooden dowels and tried it with my trusty kitchen knife and let me tell you, it was sad, lol. So, My husband comes home to a mess in the liveing room floor and I get up to take care of mommy things and when I come back in the liveing room, he has made a crochet hook with a pocket knife and some sand paper! I swear, its crazy! This man is like mcgiver, he cna do anything! lol.I will get pics to ya in the next day or so, cant wait to show ya.

 

Could someone help me with resizeing these inages? I clicked edit ad make 25% of origional size but it didnt cange a bit!

I wish I was I could use a pocketknife and sandpaper like that! Enjoy your hook! I've never tried a wooden hook...are they more comfortable that aluminum/steel?

I think they look good. I have always had, (even as a young boy) a fascination with whittling or making thing with wood by whittling I gave up early as most things eventually tuned into a tooth pick. lol

 

To me most the special thing with all hand made (created) items is that it’s one of a kind. Made by someone who put time, effort and care into something that conveys warmth, friendship, or love to the recipient. And you are fortunate to be the wife of a husband that reflects that. (of course you don’t need me to tell you that)

Those are his first try? That's one heck of a first try, I'd love to see what he could come up with given some time and practice. I bet it'd be awesome. Those are some really nice looking hooks -- you SURE it's his first try? *hehe*

Val - your hubby did a great job on them! Lucky you to have such a great guy - my current so would run screaming if I even hinted at making a hook....he already gives me odd looks when I mention crocheting....typical man!
