Hello from Germany!

:knit:hi, very new to this community. My name's LeAnna and I'm an American living in Germany the last five years. I've been a crocheter since my grandmother taught me when I was 10...doing the math, that was 35 years ago.

I go in spurts with crocheting...I hadn't touched a hook for about 2 years when I had a falling out with the yarn shop owner (who's shop is right next door.) However, picked up a hook and some chenille yarn and in the last 3 weeks I've knocked out a chenille throw, a chenille scarf, then switched yarns and made two shawls, a back pack and a sweater vest for my husband. Currently am working on an apron for Thanksgiving...I think that's my most challenging project yet.

Looking forward to meeting and getting to know other members and taking crocheting...:sheepjump :

Thanks for the welcome...

It's been quite an education this past few weeks with the crocheting. I seldom use existing patterns and usually make up my own designs using stitche patterns from my stitchery encyclopedia...which the chenille throw, scarf and sweater vest were done that way...but then....another online friend from Canada found a shawl pattern on line and was having trouble with it and ask me for help...so we were on Messenger for 3 hours one night (middle of the night for me) while I walked her through it...meanwhile, I made two of the shawls myself...

One thing led to another...I did a search on "crochet" and found the http://www.freepatterns.com (is that okay to add this link?) and found the apron pattern and this really cool sweater pattern from 1941...then on another site I found the back pack pattern...I was a woman possessed with that one...made that puppy in one day.

So, my poor husband just shakes his head...he knows to ask me for anything only when I do not have crochet hook in hand...

Hi froggy...thanks...

I posted a thread in the projects forum with a link to one of the shawls that I made...

Can someone tell me how to post a picture on this site? I'm used to doing it a certain way on my other journal sites...but it seems to be different here...

Thanks for the instructions...I had tried them before and got some kind of error message, however, will try again...

Am on Row 8 of a 37 row skirt for this apron I'm working on...it's taking me an hour to crochet 2 rows...but if I keep at it, it will be done by Thanksgiving...<img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/faint.gif" />

Hi Tiffcrochet...I love your kitty in your profile...

I posted a tread in the new projects...and I did get the pictures posted for the shawl and the chenille throw...

I'm really excited about being here...its so nice to have a place to come to and talk about crocheting (and knitting) exclusively...

Thank you for making me welcome today...I'll tell my cousin Shelli about this place and get her over here as well...she loves to crochet too.
