Hi Everyone! :wave I just discovered the boards and wanted to introduce myself right away.

My name is Elaine and I live near Branson, MO. I moved here two years ago from the Detroit area. My children are all grown and on their own. So it's just dh and I and a lovely young lady that we "adopted" a few years ago, and 5 cats.

I've been crocheting and knitting for about 30 yrs. now. I kind of put my needlework on the back burner for a while and concentrated on learning to quilt. But I just recently finished up a granny square afghan I started about 9 yrs ago and the crochet bug has bitten me again. In some respects it's kind of frustrating right now. Most of my books and patterns are still in Michigan, and there isn't much of a selection of books and yarns here in town. If I want a decent selection I have to drive 40 miles up to Springfield. That's a bit of an adjustment for me, coming from an area where I could find just about anything I wanted within a 15 minute drive.

Well, that's enough blabbing for now. I have a pattern request I'll be posting in the proper forum. Hopefully, I'll have some luck in finding it.

I want to thank everyone for the warm, friendly welcome from everyone. I've been digging around and found some wonderful links already. I've been concentrating on learning to quilt for the last few years and am only now learning of all the resources on the internet for crocheters and knitters. Most of my treasured pattern books are in my son's garage back in Michigan and it's driving me crazy not to have them here with me. And what's really making me crazy is not being able to just run out and get whatever yarn or pattern books I want within a 10 minute drive. Sure, we've got Walmart, but in my opinion their selection is really limited. I love living in the Ozarks, but I do miss the convenience of big city living.

Elaine! I grew up in the Missouri/Arkansas Ozarks (Harrison Arkansas), we were living in Springfield Mo until Sept when hubby got a job down here in North Texas.

I soooo miss The Ozarks. We still have our Silver Dollar City season passes. Hopefully we'll be able to take a short trip back up to see hubby's daughter and granddaughter right before Christmas, but it's still up in the air right now.

Sorry for rambling anyway welcome to crochetville.

Hi Elaine

We could be neighbors! I live just outside of Branson. I am new to crocheting and have also done some quilting. I know exactly what you mean about not being able to find stuff in Branson. It's so frustrating to have an idea on a project and go to Walmart and they don't have what you want.

Well nice to meet you.

Lisa

Hi Lisa,

Nice to meet you too! I'm happy to find someone who lives nearby, and also understands my frustration with the lack of selection in this area. :th I sent you a private message. Hope to hear from you soon. :wave
