This lady is big into the tapestry crochet.Hope this helps you. http://www.tapestrycrochet.com/ It looks interesting but I have enough Irons in the fire at the moment. So you go have fun and post pictures of your results.

I have been fortunate to take a class from Carol & have her first book "Tapestry Crochet". It is an interesting technique & really lends itself to designing. Have fun:)

I made a small pencil cup for my daughter from a tapestry crochet kit once.

The colors were nice and bright and it was fun to work on.

The whole project fit in a zip-lock bag and I was able to stash it in my purse!

I'll post a picture after Christmas.

 

I have another tapestry kit for a small make up bag but the colors on that one are black and white and I don't know if it will be as much fun to work on.

 

It's an interesting technique.

I wonder if one could use tapestry crochet to create patterns like in needlepoint or quilts... like this star:
