Answer these questions:

First thing you ever crocheted? ~~ Besides just plain squares to practice stitches, my first project was butterflies made in thread. A few years later, I went to make more butterflies and realized the ones I first made were done wrong. Oh well, you live and learn!

Strangest place you have crocheted? ~~ Hmmm. The jury's still out on this one. I don't think anywhere I have crocheted would be considered strange.

Fave thing to make? ~~Hats and purses. They are fast and easy to make.

Do you do charity stuff? If so, what? ~~ Yup. I like to donate my stuff to Newborns in Need or locally.

Fave yarn? ~~ I don't have a favorite, but my least favorite for crocheting is baby clouds or the kinds like it.

Fave hook? Size? Boye or Bates? ~~ Size I Boye

Hardest thing you ever crocheted? ~~ I must have blocked it out, cause I can't think of it right now.

Is there anything about crochet that completely stumps you? ~~ Not yet, but I am sure that opportunity will someday arise.

I've been gone for awhile (after just barely being here), so thought this would be a good spot to jump back in. :-)

First thing you ever crocheted? A chain, of course! ;-)

Strangest place you have crocheted? Hmmm...so far, just in the car - not too adventurous, I guess.

Fave thing to make? Afghans - even though I don't like how long they take, I love the reward.

Do you do charity stuff? Not yet, but I want to make some dog blankets for our local shelter, and I have plenty of scrap yarn just for that purpose.

Fave yarn? Red Heart Light 'n Lofty - chunky, soft, and works up so fast!

Fave hook? Size? Always Bates...my fave sizes are P and K, depending on the yarn/project.

Hardest thing you ever crocheted? Thread bookmarks - everyone loves them, but man they're hard on the hands! Naturally people want more of them...

Is there anything about crochet that completely stumps you? Yep - the fact that a pattern can make absolutely no sense to me while I'm following it, but if I just go with it, it normally turns out anyways. LOL

First thing you ever crocheted? I made clothes for my teddy bears when I was 8 or 9. I didn't have a clue how to read a pattern, I just made it up as I went.

Fave thing to make? I really like to make teddy bears and stuffred animals. I also like to make things with thread( doilies, curtains, ect)

Fave yarn? I like to use Opera crochet cotton. I don't really have any other preference. I just love yarn and thread!! You should see me in the store!! My sister likes to make fun of me because I have to smell it and I then rub it under my chin to make sure that it feels soft, not scratchy.

Is there anything about crochet that completely stumps you?

I don't think that there is much in crochet that stumps me. I buy Magic Crochet magazine and decorative Crochet and I like to do the projects that are for expert crocheters with extensive experience and the only problem I really have is tension sometimes. I tend to crochet a little tight. Other than that, no problems. Crochet just seems to make sense to me.

I am left handed but I do crochet right handed. My step mother tried to teach me when I was young but she got frustrated with me being left handed and she gave up teaching me. I really wanted to learn so I would sneak up behind her and try to watch what she was doing and then I would go to my room and figure it out myself. I didn't even try to read a pattern until I was in my 20's. I prefer to have a pattern with the diagram but I can follow a word pattern without too many problems.

I'm glad to find this forum. I don't really have any crafting buddies and I think this is forum is the next best thing.

First thing you ever crocheted?

A child's chemo cap, I learned to crochet so I could make things for charity!

Strangest place you have crocheted?

Maybe not strange, but once I made a hat on a flight for a six week old baby asleep on the seat in front of me LOL. I sized her head up by guessing, made the hat during the flight and even had yarn that matched her outfit! I didn't know the flight attendants watched the whole thing (I was at the back of the plane) and near the end when I gave the hat to the mom, the flight attendants said it was the coolest thing they'd seen on a flight and they wanted to buy me a drink LOL. I don't drink, so they ended up sending little bottles of Rum in a little bag with my dad who was traveling with me LOL. The baby wore the hat off the plane :)

Fave thing to make?

Tie: Hats and children's blankies!

Do you do charity stuff? If so, what?

I started with hats back in 2002 working with a group who was crocheting for Ronald McDonald House. I then went on to start my own little group and we started with a book and blanket campaign for the Cleveland Clinic and St. Jude. Two years later, I am still crocheting for charity all the time, I rarely make anything for my own family! LOL I'm working on that though :) There's a link to my charity website at the bottom of my siggy (PSF=Project Sherwood Forest)

Fave yarn?

I love bernat cotton tots, it makes such beautiful blankets. For hats, I love Caron Simply Soft Brites.

Fave hook? Size? Boye or Bates?

Wow, first time anyone has asked me that! LOL I have both kinds of hooks I prefer the Boye hooks. H is my favorite size, and I do also love my crochenit cable hook for making blankets...no joining, woo hoo!

Hardest thing you ever crocheted?

A 60+ square bed cover sized afghan for a wedding present. It took me months...drove me NUTS but it came out really well...

Is there anything about crochet that completely stumps you?

I am still trying to learn a better technique for finishing off blanket squares! There has got to be a better way than the standard weaving in I'm doing...I hope !

hugs

First thing you ever crocheted?

A very warped ripple ghan that ended up as a dog blanket.

Strangest place you have crocheted?

At work... some people might not consider that strange, but where I work, it is.

Fave thing to make?

Hands down, it has to be afghans.

Do you do charity stuff? If so, what?

I haven't recently, but I used to donate baby blankets to a hospital I worked for... and made Snuggle blankets for shelter pets.

Fave yarn?

Probably Caron... but I'll use anything really.

Fave hook? Size? Boye or Bates?

My two favorite sizes are N and K. I get frustrated with smaller hooks, except the steel hooks for thread... then I just get frustated with my eyesight... lighting... tiny stitches.. :))

Hardest thing you ever crocheted?

See first answer. :blush I always pick the hardest thing to try first.

Is there anything about crochet that completely stumps you?

I still have trouble reading patterns... :oops or maybe it's I have trouble understanding patterns.

First thing you ever crocheted?

A very lumpy uneven dishcloth

Strangest place you have crocheted?

Doctor's office. Not that strange, but...

Fave thing to make?

Purses. They don't take a lot of yarn, and can be used year round.

Do you do charity stuff? If so, what?

I haven't found a charity yet I want to donate to. I should probably call animal shelters and see if they want blankets.

Fave yarn?

Patons Divine :cloud9

Fave hook? Size? Boye or Bates?

I think all mine are Bates.

Hardest thing you ever crocheted?

Probably an afghan. The stitches weren't hard, but having it take so long to work up was.

Is there anything about crochet that completely stumps you?

I still have trouble with granny squares. Heh.

Strangest place you have crocheted? No place too odd, home and work mostly.

Fave thing to make? Anything that works up quickly. I like most anything, but I get bored and frustrated easilly on BIG projects.

Fave yarn? Still experimenting!

First thing you ever crocheted?

Hmm, I can't remember. I remember my 3rd grade teacher teaching all the girls in the class to crochet. We'd sit on the school steps during recess and crochet. It was probably something simple like a square washcloth.

Strangest place you have crocheted?

Chuck E. Cheese. Well, I was actually working on a knitting project.

Fave thing to make?

Right now I'm having fun with ponchos, shawls, and scarves.

Do you do charity stuff? If so, what?

Yes. I just started a Prayer Shawl Ministry through the new women's group at my church.

Fave yarn?

I don't really have one. I love natural fibers and the new funky yarns.

Fave hook? Size? Boye or Bates?

I have just about every size made. All by Boye. That's what I learned on, what my grandmother and mother used, and still what I prefer!

Hardest thing you ever crocheted?

A crochet thread angel Christmas tree topper I made when I was 18. The thing has finally bit the dust and I need to make a replacement. I still have the pattern!

Is there anything about crochet that completely stumps you?

The only difficulty I have is when trying to teach right-handers, since I'm left-handed and crochet left-handed. If I try really hard, I can manage to do the stitches right-handed, but it looks strange to do it that way!

Oh I wanna play, lol.

Answer these questions:

First thing you ever crocheted?

A Granny square Poncho for my youngest.

Strangest place you have crocheted?

The family says it was on an airplane but I crochet everywhere.

Fave thing to make?

Small thread projects. They're so quick that it helps me feel like I'm accomplishing something in between days spent working on large projects.

Do you do charity stuff? If so, what?

No, but mostly because I just started crocheting and I'm too slow to finish my stuff let alone something for someone else.

Fave yarn? Oh I like them all but love the Caron Simply Soft.

Fave hook? Size? Boye or Bates?

Turn of the Century H hook

Hardest thing you ever crocheted?

That bleeping #8 square in 63 Easy-to-Crochet Pattern Stitches

Is there anything about crochet that completely stumps you?

That #8 square? lol And blocking. What's the purpose if after you wash the item it goes back to the way it was before you blocked it?

First thing you ever crocheted?

A ripple ghan in 1970's colors that now look hideous to my eyes. LOL!

Strangest place you have crocheted?

In the bathroom. :blush

Fave thing to make?

Pre-accident: doilies

Post-accident: afghans

Do you do charity stuff? If so, what?

Items for a crisis pregnancy center.

Fave yarn?

Caron. It's made in the USA.

For thread, I prefer imported.

Fave hook? Size? Boye or Bates?

Yarn: older Susan Bates (wouldn't give you two-cents for the new Bates hooks). Also my Lacis Rosewood hooks. I love working afghans with either an H or I hook.

Thread: I'm still an older Bates fan. :)

Hardest thing you ever crocheted?

It's a tie between a Royal Society Doily that used a different technique to make the points, and had typo's in the pattern; and the Mandorla Doily.

Is there anything about crochet that completely stumps you?

Not in a long time, which is too bad because I like to be challenged.
