What do you have to have by your side while you crochet?

Recommended Posts

Hand lotion! I hate hate hate getting dry hands and yarn seems to just zap up all the moisture. Also a notebook in case I get ideas or do pattern alterations. I don't like to keep a drink by me, so that I get some excercise while walking to the kitchen ;)

:compute A copy of the pattern, my cup of water, pad of paper, a pen and :fan, and all our current catalogs...you see, I crochet best and most often at WORK.

My scissors, stitch markers, extra yarn, the phone (who wants to put projects down just to get up and answer the silly phone - don't people know that I'm CROCHETING HERE? :lol ) A nice cup of tea or coffee - even when the weather is in the 90s. The remote - I watch TV while crocheting - see comment above regarding phone - same thing applies :lol and last but not least - usually a four legged critter (our cat) sits next to me.

My mom got me a very cute pencil case that I keep all my crochet stuff in. In it is all my hooks, little scissors, yarn needles, measuring tape, little pad and pencil. That's pretty much it. I always make sure I have it when I start crocheting b/c otherwise I know I'll have to go get it at some point. :P

I keep a basket next to me on the couch....(I'm mostly a TV crocheter)

In my basket I have: yarn for project, all of my wooden hooks (in the little tubes TOTC sends them in) and little scissors. I lay the pattern out next to me (in between basket and I-- on my right side).

On my left side I have my skein of yarn that rests on the arm of the couch and a drink of some sort on the side table that never gets drunk cuz I'm too busy crocheting!

Oh, and TV remote and the cordless telephone (unless kids are home)

I do like the plastic pencil box idea though. I just saw a whole slew of them at WalMart the other day and was thinking, "hmm, I know I need one of those for SOMETHING" and never got it., guess I'll have to go back!! Would be a good replacement for the container I have all my other hooks in.

My pattern for quick reference; scissors, lots of room to frog the mess and start

over; a cup of hot tea and my yarnm, tv remote and cordless phone. I don't

mind getting up out of the chair to get anything else I may need...I like to use every opporntunity I can to burn calories, especially when I'm headed to the kitchen for a snack.

An excellent question: I have sitting next to me when I crochet is: a pattern book, crochet basket, a cat trying to tangle things up, my daughter watching every stitch I make, a bottle of water, paper, pen, kleenex, a table with lamp and of course, my hooks, nail files, safety pins and scissors. AND 15 UFO's!!!!

I keep scissors, extra hooks, needles, tape measure, and a drink of some sort. Depending on the project there might be something else (say extra yarn, or a sheet for laying out whatever). I often work at my computer so if I need to write something down I usually just put it into a word document.

My million and one projects that I'm working on all at once, my crochet hooks, scissors, pen, extra yarn or thread in case I need it right then, all my ideas of future projects, my book that I write the patterns in and, of course, my dog. No, actually, she's ON my work not beside it. :lol

I have my own side of the sofa, on the end table is: Box with Medications, files, lotion. Then a cozy with pen and pencils.kleenix, scissors, old prescription bottle with sewing needles. Cherry coke or water, gobstoppers- a must since I quit smoking... The phone, remote during the day. then comes pattern, yarn, needles.

Most of the time I'm getting up to go and get something I forgot ( getting C.R.S.- can't remember s--t ) or letting the dogs in and out.

I have a basket in which I carry my latest projects, hooks, markers, scissors, ruler, tape measure, etc. I carry that around with me to crochet and I also always have a radio or tv on ,plus a cold drink nearby.

Probably a cup of coffee or tea, the phone, remote and a tissuse box that I crocheted a cover for that has pad, pen, sissors, yarn needles, hooks, stitch markers and ruler in. It was from a "Crochet with Red Heart" magazine. I miss that magazine so much!

Also, I have two Toy Manchester Terriers, Chole and Kingfish and they are always next to me...unless I am working on an afghan, then they are usually cuddled up under it!
