I finally got my pictures sorted out. Here's the before picture of my bag:

After felting:

I wasn't happy with the handles (too long and wonky) so I cut and resewed them so they were overlapping, using the same yarn:

Closer view of the handles:

And my husband thought there should be something to show the scale so you could see how much it shrunk, so here are two pictures starring his hand:

Good work :cheer I like the colors you used and I think the bag turned out really well. I'm gonna have to try felting one day soon. :)

Excellent job! I'm so close to wanting to do another bag, so I'm chiming in with the others and asking what yarn you used. <img border=0 src="http://img28.photobucket.com/albums/v84/crochetville/rofl.gif" />

Thanks everyone! The wool I used was Panda Woolbale. I am not sure if this is only available in Australia, so apologies if I've disappointed you all.)

Michelle, I just made up the pattern as I went along. I used a 7mm hook and hdc. I started with about 20 ch, and worked along both sides of the chain, then continued around in an oval, increasing at the four corners until the base was big enough, then just worked straight until the sides were high enough, then to work the handles I worked around to the starting point, then chained until the handle was long enough then rejoined to the bag and continued around a few more rounds, with some shaping of the handles. I joined the rounds with a slipstitch and started the next round with 2ch, so that I didn't get steps when I changed colours.

Hmm, that's all kinda vague. I was really just trying things out to see how they looked, and I figured the felting would probably hide any minor problems. If you like I will check my notes and see if I can write out a more accurate pattern.

Thank him for me! I was wondering that. :)

I love the bag. The handles look great redone and I love the color of the bag. Very nice!

Hi there,

Love your bag and had question....how much yarn did it take? In balls/yds?

I'm wanting to start my own felted bag and was wondering how much yarn I'd need to buy and budget for...

Thanks!
