Carrying yarn up sides

When crocheting stripes what is the best way to carry yarn up sides of 4 rows.

You will get different answers, but I finish off and weave in securely instead, so it doesn't show.  Meaning, if you have just finished a black 4 row stripe, and then carry the black up the side of the next 4 row stripe stripe that is white, it's going to show, even if you work a border around it all at the end.  I've picked the max contrast in colors, but the same thing would happen with 2 different shades of pink or whatever.

If I were to carry it up the side even if I were doing a border I would not float the yarn for 4 rows but would  anchor it in the end stitch on each row.  Its been so long I cant remember how I did it but however I did it the edge actually looked sort of nice that way
