Second guessing

So I love making scrap blankets. I love the beautiful chaos of them. I love creating them.

But...

Now I'm wondering if they are too ugly. I have a scrap granny blanket I am finishing right now, and I personally love it. I want to donate it to a charity. But I am worried that it's too "ugly".

And I don't know how to get my head out of this spiral.

Should I stick to my love of scrap? Or do things more... coordinated and asethically matching?

You do great work and your work isn't ugly.  Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, what one might think is ugly, others may think it is beautiful.  You love it, you love doing scrap granny blankets so keep doing it and if people don't like it, too bad. You are making these for charity, it is a noble cause and you should be proud of what you are doing and your artistic expression.

So YES, stick to your love of scrap blankets if that is what you are comfortable with and is what you love to do.

KEEP DOING WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY!  It will make someone else happy and keep them warm.

We all like different colors and styles.  My dh loves "mud colors" .  I guess nicer term would be earth tones.  I very much dislike that avocado green and mustard yellow.  Dh just raved about how this prayer shawl was his absolute favorite one I have made.  Me--its ok but its not anywhere close to my favorite.

Right now I am looming hats working thru colors that I am not fond of.    I keep inheriting yarn so I try to put it to good use.

Do not be hard on yourself. Do what you like knowing someone is going to like your finished project as much as you do. Artists of all different mediums are their own worst critics (including me). It's what makes our projects so special. Keep on stitchin'! :hug
