I'm not familiar with that company, but a little googling tells me their yarn is from the UK, so likely UK terms. 

One way to tell is the turning chain, 'chain 1 DC' is likely UK for example, 'chain 3 DC is likely US.  If there is a 'SC' in the pattern, it is no doubt in US terms.  Plus, one way to answer a LOT of questions is to look closely at the pattern photo, what stitch does the item appear to have, at the spot in the pattern you are looking at?
