Question

Hello to everyone and I hope everyone is well. My friend got married and she wants a blanket as a my gift to her. But I don't know want to make. She just gave me the colors she would like but from there I'm searching for ideas. I'm looking for something beautiful, but doesn't take 3 years to complete. I'm open to suggestions 😊 thank you

I have found some beautiful blanket patterns off Pinterest.  I don't know if you are familiar with it but it is worth the time to sign up.

Wedding ring motifs might be a way to go, a couple of free patterns that you could do in her colors:

https://www.yarnspirations.com/red-heart-wedding-ring-quilt/RHC0502-022195M.html

https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wedding-ring-filet-afghan  You could easily change colors instead of doing it in filet, since the pattern is graphed.  (you have to sign up, but it's free and they don't spam you; it's an Annie's Attic site)

This is a free pattern with a hearts motif in 2 colors https://www.yarnspirations.com/red-heart-hearts-diamonds-afghan/RHC0502-023827M.html

The hearts and diamonds would be nice as a wedding blanket.

I agree, I liked that one the best, I never was over the moon for wedding ring blankets myself but they seem to be popular (also in antique patterns, but I think those I've seen were in thread).

I was just thinking 'what other blanket motifs are wedding-ish', a tree of life comes to mind but might be hard to colorize.  Maybe this one, if there are 2 or 3 colors, make the body in stripes, following the stripes of the pattern.  It just occurred to me, I was thinking 'wedding colors', but she may have meant 'acceptable décor colors' so possibly 1 color would work....

I had to chuckle about your "3 years to make" statement. Been there done that, well almost 3 years. LOL! As stated above, Pinterest has some great suggestions for wedding gift blankets. maybe this link will help choosing one.
