Here is a round ripple that I finished up for the VA Outreach program. It is an Aggie May RR pattern that is 50 inches wide. Speaking of Aggie May, does anyone hear from her? I haven't seen her around for many years. I do have her pattern if anyone needs it.

Another prayer shawl turned in.

They are moving us to another building so spent one day helping going thru our nice 2 room apartment marking what to move.  My understanding is now we get to share a closet and they expect us to meet in the very very small art studio working on tables (and chairs) caked with years of paint.  I will probably just pick up yarn/drop off shawls and leave.

Lovely prayer shawl! Sorry to hear about the moving issues and the small, poor accommodations.

Lots to Love 14" Doll Snuggle Sack

These sacks are proving to be great simple projects to add on.

BGS I'm just a little confused are you having to move out of your apartment? Is it temporary or permanent?

No we are not moving.  The prayer shawl group has been meeting in an old 2 room apartment in an old building that is slated to be torn down.  One of the rooms had shelving built along 2 walls and divided into cubicles for yarn storage.  We also have 2 portable  clothing racks in that room.  Lots of chairs in other room to sit and crochet.  Sounds like the sewing room will just close down.  It was pretty much down to one lady in her 90's.  They expect her to now use the art studio same as us and store her fabric and sewing machines in same area as our yarn and completed prayer shawls and schlep the sewing machine (s) back and forth.  Dont know what they were having her do with the ironing board and iron.  I am hearing people moving in dont seem to be interested in things like sewing and crocheting.

You guys are crocheting faster than I can read posts! Love the early year momentum.
Brenda it’s a shame to hear that your meeting place is turning into an afterthought. I belong to a sewing group that meets in a beautiful room in a senior living community. Next door is an equal sized ceramics room. Of course they pay a load of HOA fees for it, but I can’t tell you how good it is to be in a room with so many creative women and hearing the machines humming. Because of rescue stuff, I only get to go about every other month, but I look forward to it so much.
I love the ripple afghan. I tried one several years ago and it did not lay flat at all. I got some bad advice to change the hook size about halfway through and I think it ruined the project. I haven’t tried one since, so I always drool over them.
I did get a hat done. There is a little story about the variegated yarn, but I need a few show and tell photos. 9EC5CC90-C6AE-41B9-881C-215B1320B2AB.thumb.jpeg.8758ad550d24fa5c4ff83d455ac4d5a0.jpeg

Denise thats a pretty hat.  Those groups sound like things were here back in the day.  I got here too late.  I cant really blame the powers that be as there was just one lady left in the Stitchery and only 4 of us working on prayer shawls.  I made some lapghans a few years ago from Darski's round ripple pattern a few years ago.  I was amazed I had no problems with it.

Brenda, I will tuck that away. Darski’s patterns are always easy to follow. Are you close friends with any of the 4 ladies? Like would you feel comfortable asking one at a time over to your place for a few hours?  Lol, or crash the back table of a Starbucks!?
And Chris, yay!  :cheer It’s the feeling I get when I sew in the ends of a project!

Here is a bit of the back story on the variegated yarn in my purple hat. My rescue received a donation that included these “yarn ball” toys. It is way too easy for a cat to get a tooth under the wound yarn and start the ball unwinding. And cats + eating any length of yarn = a visit to the emergency vet! So I took them apart. I’m using the yarn in my cat mats and hockey hats and the bells are going into the cat toys I make.
Can’t really think of a use for the styrofoam balls.E4BB6B2C-A05B-4810-995A-33E23C664A3E.thumb.jpeg.48d1ee9690e5a1e2ff0bb3702beac687.jpeg

I have seen those yarn balls and thought they were dangerous for the cats.

Darski's patterns are easy to make.  I wish we could find her. I have made several of her patterns for dolls and such.

A very pretty hat and the yarn is a cool variegation!

Today I finished a cat mat and this was the ball band for one of the skeins I used up. Although born in WI, I’ve spent most of life in the Metro Phoenix area. TG&Y was huge here in the 70’s. I remember buying fabric 3 yards for $1. I wish this had a price on it. What I thought was interesting is that it says it was manufactured in the USA. CB0EDF65-02EF-4EC9-B520-90B50D4EB8B3.thumb.jpeg.2de526beaddd00f4b604cd1bdc6e6c35.jpeg667F1B35-E580-4931-94FB-E4B5C4E7A784.thumb.jpeg.b11cebabe30a31ea8a609ff06002c199.jpeg
