Well, I have started on 2024 also, so it looks like we are stuck with each other for another year! Tonight I finished a simple lovie. I used RHSS for the green and big twist for the red. The green isn’t very soft, so I am going to wash this one to see if it softens up.

Oh such an adorable lovey in Christmas colors! Thanks so much for posting the center photo and sending me a message with the details on how you make your lovies. I like how you can separate the animal to wash the blanket portion. I will be trying this idea out very soon!

16 Inch Baby Doll Summer Dress

This was an old pattern I found last year and made it work for the baby dolls and the Rag Doll.

DH and I finished boxing the 2023 donations Sunday night after the Church Christmas party.  Festive energy pushed us through.  DH is an expert packer but I'm not sure how all this stuff fits into the Toyota this year.  We outdid ourselves ladies!!!!

Drop off is Thursday morning so please pray for good weather.  Rain soaked dolls are not happy dolls.

Since everything is now boxed I was able to pull out the dolls and accessories I have for 2024 and put them in their bags for the year this morning!  I put the finished outfits in the bags and it felt so amazing to get started again.

We have 18 boxes this year.  We had 17 last year.  As always the boxes are all different sizes.  One big difference is DH packed 3 My Life Dolls and all the stuff you guys donated, I made, and the accessories I picked up in one giant box which we've never done before. That's usually a 2-3 box donation.

On the other hand I packed all the Barbie dolls in separate boxes because they all have gotten these small Dollar tree/Walmart accessories and the concept of putting them in grocery bags in the same box to keep them separate just isn't doable anymore.  In fact this morning I gave them each their own donation bag as I decided I'm not dealing with trying to keep the stuff from falling out of their grocery bags as I make stuff/buy stuff during the year.

I added an Our Generation Boy doll to the Our Generation Girl doll so that has also increased the volume

He feels like he can make it works so I never doubt the packing Ninja.  He told me 16 was the max a few years ago.  We did get to 17 last year so we did exceed expectations.:rofl

Wow, and that is just one place that we supported this year! I love scrolling through the CAL and looking at the shawls, stockings, hats, etc that we post throughout the year. I do miss (argh, names) is it Linda that used to make the bird nests? I think her hands got too sore and she had to switch to something else. Those nests were darling.
So, so grateful for you ladies. Some days seeing your creations lifts me so much. Oh sure, I can see just about anything on you tube. But it’s different when you have a connection with other people. We may not know each other if we were next to each other on an airplane, but I know your hearts, and that might be even better.
Oh, hearts reminds me…I made these little hearts. When I work from home I fire up my iPad with you tube and let the “feed” deliver videos to me for background noise. Saw this pattern and had to try it. I either used too large of a hook or too much stuffing. These are small. About 2” tall. IMG_8115.thumb.jpeg.3c0f690576e4b9a1649efd092bb694ed.jpegIMG_8116.thumb.jpeg.65e6487c73915e5718d3ac90ceaa5a79.jpeg

Its not really about the number of boxes but rather the number of empty cubic inches left in your vehicle after loading them. :cheer

I love the hearts.  Linda has had health issues this past year and posted a few days ago that she was in the hospital.

Love the hearts thay are so pretty.

WOW yes, I would love to borrow your DH when I need to pack up boxes to ship.  Yes it is not the amount of boxes, but the love that went into all those doll dresses, blankets and such that are in them.

All the things everyone has made for all the different charities are amazing.  This is such a great group when it comes to giving of the heart.

I am still looking for a charity that wants stuff made with cotton.

As Brenda said, the last we heard Lyn was in the hospital.  I hope we hear from her soon and she is home and feeling better.

Bird nest making is still my therapy  when my fingers  tighten  up,but ever since covid I can't find a source  to take them, I Just started outsourcing to my home state NY since I like to. send  approx. 50,that gets pricey,I could  do them for the lady  around the corner  from me but she works with raptors and she wants them 8 to 12 inches round and tall my hands work best up to 5  inches,or the hands get tired. In the spring I help Rene' with the, then bam butterflies  she makes for her church. In July I  went to Joann's  and  got some doll sewing patterns for the 16 -18 inch dolls then bam all these flares acted up, I used to love making all of Rene's cabbage patch doll clothes

Thanks for all your prayers the weather was perfect for the delivery.  Cold but no rain/snow.

Aztec Wishes posted pictures here

The kids are putting together this project to compete in a contest for service projects this year.  I met the two of the freshman girls who are in leadership roles for the project and they were thrilled with the donations.

It continues to impress me how wonderful a dual mission this charity is because you could hear how much the kids have learned in visiting with the families they will be helping.  This is not a rich area, but even these kids realize how much they have when they visit families living at the poverty level and they are learning practical ways to help. They are working and part of the plan to make all of this happen.  It gives me hope for the future.

That is wonderful.  So glad we could help the kids.

I have a question, I should of asked before you went.  Do they do anything for the boys?  I mean I could throw in a couple things for the boys in the box.

It would be fun making some things for the boys.

Great job again Chris and your ninja packer for do all the work.

Hi Lyn, glad to hear that you are still here! I don’t leave this forum very often to look around. (In case you are posting somewhere else…I didn’t know) Hard to believe that you can’t find anyone local to take donations.
Mary Jo, do you have any suggestions for boys? I just spent 20 minutes scrolling through your pics. Love the Chewbacca! (Currently watching Caps/Stars OT)
And Bailey, I think your link went back to last year’s picture. But same car, different boxes, so I guess that’s ok!

Thanks for the catch.  Picture corrected. I took additional pics to show Mary Jo how we played Jenga to get the boxes into the car this year.

Last of the wipes finished for 2024!!!

Stopped at the Dollar Tree closest to us last night and got some of the Barbie accessories I wanted for the 2024 donation.  Got some play food for the bigger dolls and found baby doll bath tubs for the two littlest baby dolls.

There's one a few town over that tends to have a bigger selection of toys.  There's a Barbie blogger I follow that's posted some really cute Chelsea (the littlest Barbie) items I'd love to find.  There are some Barbie activity sets I found last year like tennis, skiing and scuba I'd love to find for this year too. It's Dollar tree quality but its hard to find Barbie add ons.  Most of the time you have to buy another doll and that gets pricey quickly.

For the boys what about play mats, play set draw string bags?

I know Red Heart had a safari jungle set.  There have been car ones.  If there's an interest I can start I search.  I know I made some for my great nephews when my niece was out of state.  Even if we don't make all the characters those are easy enough to add to the play mat. I could get a set of jungle animals if someone didn't have time to make them.

Play mats are great for parents with limited space because they store all the pieces in the bag that folds out for the adventure set.

I've included other play sets as well just to generate some ideas for the boys. These are free.  I've made some from paid patterns but I wanted to stick to the free stuff to start with for people who might be interested.

I haven't seen one but I also think a match box car holder wouldn't be a bad idea either.  The slots on a mat that could be stored easily again would work for parents in tight spaces.

Red Heart

Island Play Set

Barn Yard

Carry Along Barn

Fantasy Tree

Iceberg Bag
