Where does the dc 1 go?

Hi,

I am confused on this pattern it is a rainbow and I am making the arch part so increasing stitches.

the pattern read:

2 dc in next stitch, dc 1, 2 dc in next stitch …

I assumed that the dc 1 went in the next stitch but it does not line up.  Where should it go?

From what you have given the 1dc would be worked in the next stitch.  What do you mean by it doesnt line up? Does the pattern give you stitch counts for the rows and if so are you off?  Are you making your first and last stitches in the correct place?  My experience has been if I continually am having an issue with the row I am currently on I made my mistake in the previous row.  Study the photos that are with the pattern.  You can often see what you need to do.
