2022 Stashbusting CAL

This is a continuation of last year's game. With the start of the new year, you get to start with ZERO for your point score. If you want, keep your 2021 score in your signature to remind you to "Do Better".

General Rules:

  • Please include your Stashbusting score in your signature. Example: WTD=+5 YTD=+27.
  • Please post your scores by Midnight on Saturday, so that the scorekeeper can pick them up. Shortly after that, the scorekeeper will be tallying the scores and posting them on Sunday.
  • Please make your score easy to be seen. Large numbers and pretty colors really help.

Example:   WTD=+7 YTD=-9  (WTD= week to date and YTD = Year to date)

Weekly Scores

  • First (gold), second (silver) and third (bronze) will be noted on the scorekeeping list on Sunday, along with all the other scores.
  • If you have the largest total in receiving yarn and not using it up, it is called the "Shoot the Moon" award.
  • The "Shoot the Moon" winner from the previous week will be responsible for posting the scores the following week.
  • NOTE: If the "Shoot the Moon" winner is not available to post the scores, please contact me--greyhoundgrandma--as early as possible so that scores can be posted in a timely manner.
  • The scorekeeper should post by 12 noon Eastern Time on Sunday. If it will be posted at another time, due to work, church, etc., please notify the group so that they will know when to expect their scores.

Scorekeeping

Positive Points

  • For every skein of yarn you use up completely, you get two (2) points. (A skein of yarn is a brand new bundle that you have bought at a store or its equivalent. If you roll it into smaller cakes or balls, it will still count as two (2) points total when you use them completely.)
  • For every skein of yarn that you roll into a ball, you get one (1) point.
  • For every ball of yarn you use up, you get one (1) point.

Points can be earned by crocheting, knitting, crafting or donations.

Negative Points

  • For every skein of yarn you buy, receive, or inherit, you lose two (2) points.
  • For every ball of yarn you buy, receive, or inherit, you lose one (1) point.

This is an on-going CAL. Feel free to join at any time!

When you start playing with us for the first time, you DON'T COUNT what's in your stash. For many of us, that would be impossible. You get points when you use up what's in your stash or lose points when you add to your stash.

You will post your first scores on January 1st, and the first list of scores will be posted on January 2nd for the week ending on January 1st.

If you have any questions just post them to the thread.

Good luck with your STASHBUSTING!

Okay, so this means I DON'T need to include the yarn I got after last week's tally, but before January 1?  One of my step-daughters gave me a Herrschner's yarn kit... :devil

Also, am I expected to do the scores this week, seeing as I shot the moon last week, or do you start it off for the first tally of the new year?

I'm in. I got some :yarn and a gift card to Michaels for Christmas. I also used some :yarn, so my score last week was + 1. I won't bother adding it and will start at 0. In the last 2 days I made 8 baby hats, used 4 balls (+ 4). Last night I sorted out all my :yarn , I rolled down some 1/2 skeins and made a package of 8 balls to donate. I had a lot of tiny balls I tossed, only a few yds of each, altogether = about a ball (+ 1). When I go to Michaels, I'll try to buy only as much as I use :lol .

I'll do the scores this week since we're starting new. This is kind of an odd week since the new year just starts today, so you can count or not count as you please.

One of my resolutions for the year is to try to crochet every week whether I feel like it or not. I kind of lost my mojo this last year. I have plenty of projects I need to work on.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

People in the home environment guilted me into reporting the yarn kit that I got right after the totals were due for last Saturday, even though Mona said I didn’t necessarily need to report them…the total was 20 skeins, so:

WTD = -40

You're supposed to cover your ears and go la, la, la, la...until they give up and let you be. LOL  At least it's yarn kits and not just pretty yarn that you don't have a plan for yet so hopefully you'll have positive numbers in no time.

Happy New Year everyone!!

My only project currently on-the-hook is a cardigan for myself that I started back in September, worked on once and then haven't touched because I've been working on stuff for others lol. Today I finished the first skein on that, so I'm on the scoreboard for 2022!

WTD +2

YTD +2

Now to update my signature for the first time since the summer lol I'm going to list my resolution for the year...to GREATLY reduce my stash!

My friend asked me to make your granddaughter a grey scarf. It's kind of sad when it's easier to just buy a skein than to look through your stash and see if you have one. My rationalization is that if I don't have any grey then I'll have to order and wait for it or make a trip to get some.   -2

Happy Saturday 😊

I used up 2 skeins this week on my sweater and have my first completed item of the year! Then I hauled my entire stash into the house (from the garage) and organized it....and I purged at the same time. What is it about having stuff in the stash that makes me feel like I HAVE to keep it??? I got rid of a TON of stuff I will never use. If it was a usable amount,  it was donated to my kid's elementary school for art classes. If it wasn't enough for that,  I tossed it. There were some full skeins and some balls but I'm just counting everything as balls because I didn't keep track of how many of each I had....so 130 balls is what I reduced my stash by. And I'm down from 10 bins to 8!

I got:sick last Tues., went home from work early, I had :fever and dizziness. I was told my symptoms could be the flu or covid. I got tested and was positive for covid 19. I've been quarantined from Jan. 5th - Jan. 8th. Will go back to work Wed. I did some :crocheting , but wasn't really into it. :sleep a lot, quarantine is over, but I still feel a little :sick . I didn't use any :yarn this week.
