Welcome to the 'ville!  Need more info--what is the pattern name & source, is this a free pattern you can link to?  Does the pattern have a schematic (shows the measurements & shape of each piece?)  Or if it is a paid pattern, is there a pic of it on the 'net so we can see what it looks like?

One thing that comes to mind, I have seen pullovers for women with a slit at each side and (unless I'm mis-recalling) the back is a little longer than the front.  The other thing, I've seen tops (for grownups) where the shoulder seam is forward of where it usually is, for some decorative reason--again, the opposite of what you are seeing.

edit - I just realized I focused on 'front too long'.  If the body is in 1 piece, I assume like a tube, how is that possible?  The only thing I can imagine is a backless bib top, like bib overalls without the pants.  (if that is the case it would need a collar or suspenders).
