Does anyone know a beginner friendly dragon wing pattern?

Question

I'm trying to make a cthulu plush for a family member but can't find any patterns that would work for this. The wings need to be fairly large, the doll is 12 inches and the wingspan of 22 inches from the tip of one wing to the other. Problem is every pattern i have found in the last few days has wire going through to strength and the patterns seem very dependent on making a tube for it, what I'm trying to make can not have any wire. The recipient of the toy will not care that the wings droop but will likely sleep with it as they are 4 years old. Even getting pointed in the right direction for the wings would be a great help.

Do you or the young one's mom think that plastic canvas would be a safe alternative to wire?  You could cut it to wing shape and overlap and sew pieces together for a larger/longer wingspan, and even double up on the thickness if needed.  If you keep the cut edges from being sharply pointed, I'd think that would be pretty safe. While I wouldn't throw the toy in the washing machine, it should stand up to hand washing if needed.

The crocheted case I made for my hooks, which opens like a book, is stiffened with that, the canvas is completely enclosed; I just poked at my case, it does have square corners (which a kid would really have to work at to hurt himself with)...

You can sew around the corners and edges with yarn and this can decrease the sharpness of the edges.  I've done this when using plastic canvas to stiffen a piece and it protects the edges from sticking someone.  Another option would be to tape them but you risk the tape losing its adhesive with wear.

For any who wonder why so big of wings, the kid asked for the wings to be big and the wingspan I've given is just an estimate and it would be fine if they are a few inches smaller but they can't have a wingspan of 12 or less cause they would be rather tiny. I'm trying to make a semi realistic size for the wings.
