Amigurumi Help absolute beginner

Hi everyone I recently decided to get into crocheting and I really enjoy it. I made one amigurumi, it’s an octopus but now I want to make the Large Ami Cat but the pattern confuses me.

What does (sc in the next st, inc) mean? And all patterns that uses that alike.

sc means make one single crochet in the next stitch, inc means make 2 stitches (probable single crochets) into one stitch of previous row
